Abstract

This paper presents the design and implementation of a remote laboratory platform for a Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM), integrating real hardware, embedded processing, and web-based interaction. The proposed system is based on a DE1-SoC platform combining FPGA resources and an ARM processor running Linux, enabling real-time acquisition, processing, and control of electromechanical variables. A three-phase encoder is introduced to estimate the rotor position using optical sensors, allowing reconstruction of angular position despite signal distortions through alignment and transformation techniques. The platform acquires phase currents, applied voltages, angular position, and velocity, and provides users with downloadable experimental data for further analysis. A web interface enables remote access to the PMSM, allowing users to execute experiments, visualize signals, and modify input parameters such as amplitude, frequency, and waveform type. Simulation and experimental results demonstrate that the proposed system accurately reproduces the PMSM dynamic behavior and achieves efficiency levels close to 87%, validating the methodology. Compared to existing remote laboratories, the proposed platform offers direct access to real signals, flexibility for model validation, and reduced dependency on institutional access constraints. The developed system provides a complete experimental environment for education and research in electric drives, embedded systems, and control, bridging the gap between numerical simulation and real-world experimentation.
