Methodological Foundations For the Formation and Evaluation of Enterprise Competitive Advantages Under the Green Transformation of the Economy
Abstract
The article is dedicated to the issues of developing methodological foundations for creating and evaluating an enterprise’s competitive advantages in the context of the green transformation of the economy. The relevance of this topic comes from the need to rethink traditional approaches to assessing enterprise competitiveness under the influence of global processes like the greening of the economy, digital transformation, implementing sustainable development principles, and the spread of ESG practices. Today’s competitive environment is marked by the growing role of environmental, social, innovation, and institutional factors, which are gradually becoming key sources for building long-term competitive advantages for enterprises. In this context, the existing methodological tools for assessing competitiveness need a significant methodological update and adjustment to meet the demands of the green transition. The study aims to develop methodological foundations for forming and evaluating an enterprise’s competitive advantages in the context of the green transformation of the economy, considering economic, environmental, and social criteria. The article examines the evolution of factors ensuring competitiveness and identifies the connection between the system of competitive advantage factors and the choice of appropriate methodological approaches to their assessment. The author analyzes the transformation of traditional methodological approaches in the context of the increasing influence of environmental, social, and innovative development factors on enterprises. The internal and external factors shaping enterprises’ competitive advantages are systematized, their role in building a modern competitiveness assessment system is identified, and a conceptual approach to interpreting the impact of the green transformation of the economy on the change in the structure of competitiveness factors is proposed. It is substantiated that modern methodological approaches to assessing the competitiveness of enterprises need to evolve from the traditional economy-focused approach to an integrated model that combines economic, environmental, and social criteria for evaluating an enterprise’s performance. A trend has been identified of gradually expanding the methodological tools for assessing competitiveness by integrating environmental, social, innovation, and institutional evaluation parameters.
