An integration framework toward peer to peer energy trading system

Abstract

Cost-effectiveness of renewable energy investment is associated with sharing economy movement and proportion of renewable energy. The rise of clean energy usage increases Distributed Energy Resources (DERs), which integrates into the energy market through proactive consumers known as "Prosumers". This causes energy market to shift from centralized to decentralized markets in a microgrid . Moreover, Peer to Peer energy trading (P2PET) is a mechanism for exchanging electricity among prosumers without intermediaries. This leads to a large amount of data and stakeholder communication within the system. Due to market complexity, Enterprise Architecture (EA) is required to incorporate P2PET with successful business activities. This study focused on designing architecture framework to achieve the needs of P2PET in Thailand to provide fair and equitable prices. The P2PET framework was designed and divided into four layers: business, data, application, and technology (including IT and energy). The decentralized microgrid and prosumer participation were the basis of the framework. Additionally, a canonical coalition game (CCG) was used to offer the profit of P2PET, and the local prosumer cases and data flow also demonstrated. The findings revealed that there were lower price patterns (5.29%) and increase in revenue (14.08%) for all participants. The evaluation confirmed that microgrid integration benefits in terms of adequate market mechanisms. Implication of Thesis: The findings of the study serve as a blueprint for the development of Peer to Peer energy trading (P2PET) system and guidelines for making microgrid policies that allow everyone in the microgrid to benefit from energy sharing. Furthermore, Ministry of energy and Energy Regulatory Commission may utilize the findings to implement and do further research
