Principles for development of transport systems at mining operations
Abstract
The article examines patterns governing the development of transport systems at mining operations in conditions of varying mining, geotechnical, economic, and technological factors. Evolution of these transport systems is investigated from the perspective of systems analysis, transport logistics, digital transformation of production, and the digital twin concept. It is demonstrated that sustainable operation of the transport systems is ensured through structural adaptation, which enhances their flexibility and resilience to both external and internal factors. A conceptual sequence for the development of the transport system is proposed, comprising the interconnected stages of demand formulation, adaptation, flexibility enhancement, and provision of operational stability. Case studies of structural modernization aimed at improving reliability of transport systems, stabilizing material flows, and enabling efficient utilization of the haulage equipment are discussed based on analyzing active mining operations. It is shown that integration of novel transport components and advancement of the company's digital architecture create opportunities for development of digital twins of the transport systems and implementation of the Smart Mine concept.
