Analysis of Heat Pump and Photovoltaic Systems' Performance in the Residential Building
Abstract
Renewable energy sources play a substantial role in the production of electricity and heat in single-family homes. This paper presents experimental data on electricity generation from a photovoltaic system with a maximum output of 9.9 kW, located on the rooftop of a building in the Swietokrzyskie Province. The obtained data are compared with the simulation software results and discussed. Electricity consumption and heat generation provided by the air source heat pump are analysed. The analysis also includes the coefficient of performance, which varied significantly by season, from 2.9 in February to ca. 5.5 in June. Moreover, the heat pump supplied about 90% of the thermal energy for heating (with the remaining about 10% used to heat domestic hot water), which closely agrees with data from a previous study in a different single-family building.
