Abstract

Microstrip patch antennas are widely applied to modern communication systems because of their simplicity in fabrication and the good matching with many feeding circuits. However, their practical application is often limited by their narrow resonant bandwidth. To increase its overall efficiency and broaden the working bandwidth, patch antennas are integrated and form a phased array in this research. This paper tries to focus on the design and simulation of a 2x2 antenna array, based on a U-slot patch antenna with an operating bandwidth of 108 MHz as the fundamental element, with the integration of the original antenna coaxial feed and a tiny stub. The design includes defects. The maximum return loss in this paper degrades while introducing active S-parameter. The size of the antenna array is also restricted by the calculation performance of the computer; therefore, the conclusion obtained in this paper may not apply to a more complex phased antenna array. The paper concludes and addresses the potential applications at the end of the paper.
