SOCIOCULTURAL IDENTITY OF LOWER SECONDARY SCHOOL STUDENTS: OPERATIONALISING THE CONCEPT IN THE CONTEXT OF EDUCATIONAL OUTCOMES
Abstract
The article examines the problem of sociocultural identity in the context of modern educational transformations of secondary education. The relevance of the research is determined by the strategic documents of state policy and the requirements of the Federal State Educational Standard, in which the development of all-Russian civic identity is defined as a priority goal of education. Based on a brief interdisciplinary review, the absence of a unified interpretation of the concept in pedagogical discourse is revealed. It is substantiated that Russian civic identity can be considered as a subtype of sociocultural identity, which sets a methodological framework for pedagogical development. The author proposes and substantiates an original definition of “sociocultural identity” for pedagogical discourse. The correlation of the proposed definition with the personal outcomes of mastering basic educational programmes is shown. The conducted analysis creates a theoretical basis for empirical research on the mechanisms of forming sociocultural identity in the modern school environment.
