Abstract
Ibn al-Arabi's philosophy of Wahdat al-Wujud (The Oneness of Being) emphasizes the inter-relationship of all existence in the material world as manifestations of Allah. This paper investigates how this concept provides a powerful framework for understanding the connection between humans, nature, and the Almighty. The paper also discusses how these insights may foster contemporary eco-philosophy through an ethical and spiritual lens, which creates a sustainable interaction between humans, non-human entities, and nature. According to this viewpoint, every element of the world- humans, animals, plants, and materials- is the manifestation of Allah. Recognizing the sacredness of the environment, this concept inspires humans to form connections of care, respect, and stewardship with nature. This study adopts a qualitative and analytical approach, carefully exploring Ibn al-Arabi's insights into nature and how they can guide ethical thinking in addressing today's environmental challenges. Although extensive research has been done on Ibn al-Arabi's philosophy, his profound insights regarding the environment have received relatively little attention. This paper aims to highlight those insights, particularly in the context of today’s scientific and technological advances, where the environment is increasingly heading toward crisis. Re-examining his thinking, this article sheds light on ethical and spiritual perspectives that can provide guidance in addressing contemporary environmental challenges.
