High-Frequency Circuit Modeling of IPMSM Using Three-Step Method
Abstract
This paper presents a method for establishing high-frequency circuit model for concentrated-winding permanent magnet synchronous motors (PMSMs). The method follows the three-step technical route: first, parasitic capacitances are extracted via electrostatic finite element analysis (FEA); second, small-signal time-harmonic FEA model is constructed to extract the impedance matrixes of in-slot coils; finally, all components including end winding resistances and leakage inductances are integrated into a complete circuit model that can be directly solved in any circuit simulation software without requiring further FEA computations. The extraction procedure of the impedance matrixes is elaborated, and the model's accuracy is validated through comparison with experimental results. The results indicate that the proposed model achieves high accuracy in predicting both differential-mode and common-mode impedances. Moreover, its advantage lies in the ability to rapidly simulate the high-frequency impedance characteristics of the motor under arbitrary topological connections without repeatedly performing FEA.
