Abstract

The 2026 3rd International Conference on Materials Physics and Composites (ICMPC 2026) was successfully held in Kunming, China, from July 10 to 12, 2026. In an era marked by rapid advancements in materials science and engineering, the fields of materials physics and composite materials continue to serve as foundational pillars supporting innovation across energy, manufacturing, environmental sustainability, and emerging technologies. Kunming—renowned for its pleasant climate, cultural richness, and academic vitality—provided an inspiring environment for scholars, researchers, and industry practitioners to gather, exchange cutting-edge ideas, and explore transformative developments shaping the future of advanced materials. ICMPC 2026 served as a dynamic platform for interdisciplinary dialogue, showcasing research that is poised to influence both scientific understanding and industrial applications. The intellectual centerpiece of ICMPC 2026 was its distinguished series of Keynote Speeches delivered by leading experts in the field. Prof. Shichun Mu (Wuhan University of Technology, China) opened the keynote session with his insightful presentation, “Unraveling the Mechanism of Water Oxidation,” offering a comprehensive exploration of oxygen evolution reaction pathways and innovative strategies for catalyst design. Prof. Qing Qu (Yunnan University, China) followed with his keynote, “Interface-Engineered FeNiOOH Enabling Synergistic AEM–LOM Dual Pathways for Efficient Overall Water Splitting,” presenting breakthrough findings in interface electrochemistry and green hydrogen energy. Prof. Taohong Li (Southwest Forestry University, China) delivered an engaging talk titled “Fiber-reinforced Composites Using Melamine-based Long-chain Polymer As Matrices,” highlighting novel composite material systems with enhanced structural performance. Prof. Dong Fang (Kunming University of Science and Technology, China) concluded the keynote session with “Construction of Tin-Based Functional Additives for Flame Retardancy and Smoke Suppression in Polymeric Materials and Their Synergistic Mechanisms,” demonstrating impactful advances in polymer safety and functional additives. Collectively, these keynotes provided a comprehensive view of current scientific frontiers and emerging research trajectories in materials physics and composites. The success of ICMPC 2026 and the high quality embodied in these proceedings are the result of the dedication and collaborative efforts of numerous individuals and institutions. We extend our sincere appreciation to all participants whose enthusiasm and academic engagement enriched the conference atmosphere. Our heartfelt gratitude goes to the esteemed Keynote Speakers for sharing their profound expertise and visionary perspectives. We also thank all authors whose rigorous research contributions form the core of these proceedings.
