The Israeli attack on Qatar in media discourse: A semiological reading of the Qatari-American relationship
Abstract
This research, titled "The Israeli Aggression Against Qatar in Media Discourse: A Semiological Reading of the Qatari-American Relationship," examines the symbolic representations of the event in the media as tools for reshaping concepts of alliance and sovereignty within a changing global context. The research employs a semiotic-analytical approach to deconstruct media coverage, where the Qatari-American relationship is reproduced as a symbolic sign, and the aggression is reframed as a moral act that transcends the security event to become a symbolic test of the ally. The research reveals a representational conflict in which symbols and images are employed to construct a narrative of absence and to negotiate the legitimacy of sovereignty, within a complex semantic network governed by power relations and interpretation.
