Abstract

The purpose of the research is to develop an integrative diagnostic method for computational thinking. The author proposes a model of computational thinking in the form of a tensor product, criteria of its components development, and identifies and characterizes its integrative levels. Research methods included analysis of scientific literature and pedagogical experience (including the author’s personal experience), modeling, qualimetry methods, ascertaining experiment, expert assessment method and sociometric methods. Methodological foundations of the research are the competence approach (considers computational thinking as a target for personal and professional development and as a meta-competence integrating relevant knowledge, skills and personal experience), the systems approach (considers computational thinking as a symbiosis of mathematical thinking and information competence, as well as the relationship of computational thinking with other competencies), the qualimetric approach (proclaims the need for multicriteria testing of computational thinking).

Critical mathematical thinking process in definite integral applications: an action, process, object and scheme based on cognitive styles

Higher-order thinking skills are essential in calculus learning. However, research examining how students with different cognitive styles construct mathematical critical thinking processes within the action, process, object and scheme (APOS) framework when solving integral application problems remains limited. Furtherm...

Establishing the Need for HOTS and Computational Thinking Integrated Mathematics Assessment Instruments in Upper Secondary School: A Needs Analysis

Findings revealed that students could only partially decompose problems, with weaknesses in abstraction and algorithmic thinking, while most summative exam questions were low-order and none assessed CT, confirming the need for an integrated HOTS–CT assessment instrument.

Development and validation of the complex thinking scale for scientific research among Peruvian engineering students

Although instruments exist to assess complex thinking in college students, their application has limitations in specific disciplinary contexts, and no validated measure is available specifically to assess this construct in the research training of Peruvian engineering students. This study aimed to develop and valid...
