Simulation of Faults in a Solar System Connected to the Electrical Grid
Abstract
This paper presents the modelling and simulation of a photovoltaic system connected to the electrical grid under fault conditions. The study focuses on the detailed modelling of the solar panel and other components required for its integration into the grid. Using Matlab/Simulink, a model was developed that includes solar panels, DC–DC converters, a maximum power point tracking (MPPT) algorithm, and DC–AC inverters. The simulations demonstrate the system’s ability to convert DC energy into AC and inject it into the grid with a voltage amplitude of 120 V and a frequency of 60 Hz, as expected for the Brazilian electrical system, and to recover after the presence of faults.
