Calypogeia goebelii and Solenostoma javanicum–new to the Liverwort flora of India

Abstract

During a recent floristic survey documenting the bryoflora of Sirumalai Hills and Nilgiri Hills in the Western Ghats of Tamil Nadu, two leafy liverworts Calypogeia goebelii (Schiffn.) Steph. and Solenostoma javanicum (Schiffn.) Steph. were discovered as new to India. Detailed morphological descriptions, diagnostic character, photographic plate and distribution map of the two species are provided to help bryologists collect this species elsewhere.
