Abstract

The subject of this study is the interconnection between the poetry of the Silver Age and the historical events in Russia at the turn of the 19th to the 20th century. The article examines literary styles such as symbolism, acmeism, and futurism. It includes excerpts from the works of specific poets who represent the aforementioned directions in the poetry of the Silver Age. Special attention is paid to how historical upheavals, revolutionary events, the crisis of traditional values, and changes in public consciousness reflected in the themes, imagery, and style of the works of representatives of these directions. The material for the research consists of individual poems by A. Blok, V. Bryusov, N. Gumilev, A. Akhmatova, S. Gorodetsky, V. Mayakovsky, I. Severyanin, and A. Kruchenykh. The analysis of these works allows us to trace how poetic creativity expressed the spiritual searches, historical expectations, anxieties, and hopes of contemporaries. The methodological basis of the article is a historical-literary approach that allows for the comparison of the works of poets from each of the mentioned directions with the historical events occurring in Russia during that time. The scientific novelty of the work lies in the correlation and connection of the foundations for the emergence of each literary style in the poetry of the Silver Age with socio-historical events in Russia at the turn of the 19th-20th centuries.
