We prove a Michael-Simon inequality for a class of varifolds in Euclidean space that includes all integral varifolds with locally bounded first variation of arbitrary dimension and codimension. In codimension $2$, this inequality is sharp and implies the sharp isoperimetric inequality for varifolds, which attains equality precisely for the round disk. Our proof uses the optimal transportation approach of Brendle-Eichmair.
We prove the Brendle isoperimetric inequality for varifolds of finite mass and finite total first variation, allowing an arbitrary singular part. The distributional mean curvature is assumed only integrable. The result applies to integral varifolds and, more generally, to rectifiable varifolds with a positive lower den...
We prove a Michael-Simon inequality for $2$-varifolds in $\mathbb{R}^N$, in arbitrary codimension, for anisotropies sufficiently close to the area functional. Building on the ideas of Almgren and De Philippis-Pigati, we introduce a projection method for anisotropic stress measures yielding geometric inequalities that a...
We prove the sharp horizontal isoperimetric inequality in $\mathbb H^n$, $n\ge2$, with equality precisely for left translates and Heisenberg dilations of Pansu balls, up to Haar-null sets.
We prove the sharp horizontal isoperimetric inequality in the first Heisenberg group for all sets of finite horizontal perimeter and positive finite volume, with equality precisely for left translates and dilates of the Pansu ball.
We prove a Michael-Simon inequality for varifolds of every dimension and codimension with respect to anisotropic energies. In particular, this resolves the problem for every convex even hypersurface anisotropy and, using work of Allard, yields the regularity of hypersurfaces with bounded anisotropic mean curvature in e...
In this paper, we use optimal mass transportation to derive an isoperimetric inequality and an interior Michael-Simon-Sobolev inequality for weakly twice differentiable integral varifolds of dimension and codimension at least $2$, with locally bounded first variation and $L^2_{loc}$ mean curvature. This generalizes a r...
