Abstract

Prior to the 19th century, three main branches of traditional Armenian music developed here: folk, gusan-ashugh (troubadour), and spiritual-ecclesiastical. At the end of the 19th century, European composition and performance arts began to take shape, followed by their active development at the beginning of the 20th century.
