Abstract

Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI), especially ChatGPT, is becoming more popular in both professional and educational contexts as well as in people’s everyday lives. Nevertheless, few inquiries have looked at the variables affecting ChatGPT clients’ adoption in this situation. This inquiry uses a modified Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) in Indonesia to investigate the aspects that outcome ChatGPT acceptability in everyday life. This investigation used quantitative techniques and a cross-sectional survey design. Data from active ChatGPT clients in the JABODETABEK region was gathered via an online survey. 219 valid responses were evaluated with PLS-SEM using SmartPLS. The proposed model builds upon TAM by integrating perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use with trust, security, privacy, and perceived price. The findings demonstrate that all the proposed hypotheses were confirmed. Perceived ease of use had a beneficial outcome on both perceived usefulness and attitude toward using ChatGPT, whereas perceived utility, perceived price, and perceived trust meaningfully enhanced clients’ attitudes. Security and privacy were shown to have beneficial outcomes on trust, and the attitude toward using ChatGPT had the most beneficial outcome on behavioral intention to continue using the technology. By expanding TAM with contextually relevant constructs for GenAI adoption and by addressing the understudied context of ChatGPT acceptability in Indonesian everyday life, this inquiry adds to the body of knowledge.
