Abstract
This study examined the impact of crushed limestone and sand mixtures on soil properties affecting turf performance in a football field at the University of Sulaimani. Using a factorial design, three mixtures (Z ₁ , Z ₂ , and Z ₃ ) and three bulk density levels (D ₁ (1.45), D ₂ (1.55), and D ₃ (1.65) Mg m-³) were tested. Key findings revealed a strong inverse relationship between bulk density and infiltration rate, demonstrating that increased compaction decreases soil permeability. The crushed limestone mixtures display superior hydraulic performance and technical strength compared to sand mixtures. The limestone-reinforced Z ₂ layer produced the highest dry matter yield (7.667%) at D ₁ (1.45 Mg m-³), whereas the sand-predominate Z ₁ mixture retained the highest infiltration rates. The dry matter and infiltration reduced significantly at the maximum 1.65 Mg m-³), reaching 2.333% at Z3 × D1. Shear strength increased from 1.9–2.2 kpa to 2.5–3.1 kpa with compression, indicating that soil bulk density possesses higher mechanical strength. Hydraulic conductivity decreased similarly with increasing bulk density (R2 = 0.998). Crushed limestone compositions generally performed better than natural ones.
This article presents laboratory experiments examining the potential benefits of the synergistic effects of ground granulated blast furnace slag (GGBS) and metakaolin (MK) on lime (L) stabilisation of synthetic sulfate-bearing soil. The different soil–binder mixtures considered in this study were prepared by partially...

Geotechnical and pavement uses of clayey subgrade soils are limited due to their low shear strength, high compressibility, poor load-bearing capacity, and moisture sensitivity. Here, 25-grade ordinary Portland cement, 43-grade OPC, 43-grade hydrated lime, 43-grade fly ash (class C), and 43-grade calcium chloride (CaCl₂...

Earthen materials remain widely used in rural construction due to their local availability, low environmental impact, and reduced embodied energy; however, their limited mechanical performance and susceptibility to water erosion restrict broader structural application. This study evaluates the influence of soil mineral...

Sandcrete blocks are widely used as walling materials, but their production depends substantially on cement, creating interest in locally available agricultural wastes that may reduce cement use while retaining acceptable engineering performance. This study investigated the physical and mechanical properties of sandcre...

Peat soil is characterized by high water content and low bearing capacity, making it unsuitable for use as a road subgrade without stabilization treatment. This study aims to analyze the physical characteristics of natural peat soil from Kenan Sandan, East Kotawaringin, and evaluate the California Bearing Ratio (CBR) v...

Extensive subgrades present severe structural challenges globally due to their inherent tendency to swell upon
moisture intake and undergo severe volumetric contraction during dry seasons, causing structural distortion and excessive
rehabilitation expenses. This experimental investigation appraises the stabilization pe...
