A MOEA/D-DRA Approach for Multi-Mode Resource-Constrained Aero-Engine Assembly Scheduling
Abstract
Aiming at complex processes, limited resources, and the trade-off between efficiency and cost in aero-engine assembly, this paper abstracts the scheduling problem as a Multi-mode Resource-Constrained Project Scheduling Problem (MRCPSP). A multi-objective model is constructed with two conflicting objectives: makespan and resource usage cost. The Multi-Objective Evolutionary Algorithm based on Decomposition (MOEA/D) with Dynamic Resource Allocation (DRA) is introduced, using the Tchebycheff decomposition method to transform the multi-objective problem into a set of scalar sub-problems. A three-part encoding scheme including task sequence, mode selection, and resource capacity is designed. A benchmark-based aero-engine assembly scenario shows that the method can obtain a well-distributed Pareto front and provide decision support for assembly managers to trade off between schedule and cost.
