ARTISTIC ECLECTICISM AS THE DOMINANT OF THE AUTHOR'S POETICS OF M. P. ARTSYBASHEV AND A. A. VERBITSKAYA
Abstract
The purpose of this article is to identify the originality of the narrative manner of M. P. Artsybashev and A. A. Verbitskaya, taking into account the traditions of mass literature of the early 20th century, to differentiate the features of naturalistic poetics in their novels Sanin and The Keys of Happiness, and to determine the place and role of this poetics in the overall artistic design of the works. Its relevance is due to the growing interest in the work of fiction writers of the early 20th century, who, due to socio-political reasons, fell out of the field of view of readers, literary scholars and critics for several decades. The scientific novelty is determined by the fact that for the first time the naturalistic features of the novels of Artsybashev and Verbitskaya are examined through the prism of their refraction in a complex eclectic poetics, which, on the one hand, makes it possible to organically indicate their connection on the basis of specific ideological, philosophical and stylistic features, and on the other hand, to outline a vector for a more consistent and objective differentiation of the vast range of writers at the turn of the century, whose work for a long time bore the stamp of a kind of "averaged" naturalism, without taking into account a number of characteristic features and differences in their artistic manner. As a result of the study, it is established that the novels Sanin by M. P. Artsybashev and The Keys of Happiness by A. A. Verbitskaya reveal a number of similar typological features, which include the principles of constructing the main character and the algorithms of his interaction with the environment and society, the experimental nature of the main ideological and philosophical concepts, and noticeable attention to issues of physiological relationships.
