THE ROLE OF PERCEIVED ORGANIZATIONAL SUPPORT IN THE EFFECT OF GREEN LEADERSHIP ON ORGANIZATIONAL ENVIRONMENTAL CITIZENSHIP BEHAVIOR: A STUDY OF HOTEL BUSINESSES
Abstract
This study aims to examine whether perceived organizational support (POS) functions as a mediator in the relationship between green leadership (GL) and organizational citizenship behavior for the environment (OCBE). The increasingly more prevalent environmental problems today have made it a necessity for hotel businesses that operate in the service sector to adopt environmentally sensitive practices. In this context, leadership approaches and organizational factors that promote the voluntary environment-friendly behaviors of employees become important. The sample of the study included employees of hotel businesses in Antalya. The survey method was used to gather data. The analysis of the data showed that GL had a significant positive impact on OCBE and POS. Additionally, POS had a significant positive effect on OCBE. It was also found that POS played a partial mediating role in the connection between GL and OCBE. The results here demonstrated that the display of environmentally friendly behaviors by employees was influenced not only by leadership but also by perceptions of being supported by their organization. The results of this study are anticipated to contribute to sustainability-focused practices in hotel businesses and environmentally friendly human resources policies.
