Abstract

This article describes how spiritual, moral, and social values were changing in Russia in the period from 1990 to 2017, and also examines the application of these data in managing the socialization of young people on the Internet. The study is based on a large-scale five-stage Russian survey “World Values Survey”, the information of which was divided into eight groups: equality and human rights, politics and democracy, family and tradi-tions, religion and morality, trust and tolerance, development and the future, trust in institutions, security and well-being. The survey results did not reveal a trend towards people’s values changing from traditional to mod-ern ones. Subsequent analysis showed that family values remain extremely essential, religious importance, national pride, and subjective well-being are increasing, while work although has become less important, still occupies a central place in people’s lives. In general, the level of trust, according to the survey results, is very low, but it still varies depending on the institution. In 2017 study, it was revealed that no significant differences in values between the younger and older generations of respondents. The scientific contribution of this re-search involves its comprehensive learning of WVS interwave dynamics, the normative model of Decree of the President of the Russian Federation No. 809, age differences, and online socialization.
