In this work, we consider relative overdetermined problems for the first eigenfunction of the Laplacian for domains in cones, and the related question of minimizing the first eigenvalue among sets of a given fixed measure. By means of a shape derivative analysis, we show that the spherical sector is a critical shape and obtain a geometric condition on the cone for its stability/instability. By a concentration-compactness argument, we prove the existence of a minimizer, which moreover is bounded, open, connected, and whose relative boundary is regular almost everywhere. By another domain variation argument, we conclude that the minimizers admit a solution for the overdetermined problem.
We derive second order perturbation expansions of volume-normalized sums of the first $n$ Dirichlet eigenvalues for near-circular and near-spherical domains. The disk (resp. ball) is only a critical shape when $n$ is the last index of an eigenvalue cluster, and in dimension two and three our expansions yield a finitely...
We study a nonlocal 2-Hessian equation, given by an infimum of linear deformations of the fractional Laplacian, that is, $\inf_{A\in {A}_2}\Delta^s (u\circ A)(A^{-1}x)$. We characterize the class of coefficient matrices ${A}_2$, which determines the behavior of the operator, and provide a detailed geometric description...

We prove a sharp comparison, with Obata-type rigidity, for all Neumann eigenvalues of one-dimensional $\mathrm{CD}(1,2)$ spaces against the Legendre model, under a convexity condition on the density. It follows that minimizers of the $k$-th Laplace eigenvalue among closed surfaces of Gaussian curvature at least $1$ can...
We study overdetermined problems for normalized sum Hessian equations and their quotients in the space forms. The equations and boundary conditions imply admissibility and ellipticity. For quotient equations, we prove that the domain is a geodesic ball if it is strictly star-shaped, or if the Dirichlet value satisfies...
We prove a surprisingly simple pointwise formula for the Frobenius norm of the tensor of $n$-th order partial derivatives of a radially symmetric function $f(x)=g(r(x))$. Using the iterations of the differential operator $\mathcal{D} g(r)=g'(r)/r$, we avoid technical difficulties usually caused by higher-order radial d...
Considering an $n$-dimensional compact Riemannian manifold with a boundary that satisfies a Serrin-type problem, we prove sharp upper and lower bounds for the area of such a boundary. Then, we present the main result of this paper: a divergence formula for a special vector field on a given Riemannian manifold. This div...
