Abstract

Purpose: Despite steady national economic growth, the haor (marsh wetland) region remains significantly underdeveloped and marginalized. Cropping systems are vital to sustainable agriculture because they prevent pests and diseases, preserve soil fertility, and enable the economical use of resources. The haor region’s sustainable development, the problems posed by cropping systems and climate change in the future are very important.Research Method: The study was conducted in Hakaluki haor, Borolekha Upazila and selected sites covering of Sujanagar Union in Borolekha Upazila, Moulvibazar District, Sylhet Division. Three villages were purposively selected, and households were chosen randomly based on village household numbers. Data were collected during June–October 2023 using semi-structured questionnaires, Participa-tory Rural Appraisal techniques, four focus group discussions, key informant interviews, field ob-servation, and reconnaissance visits. Quantitative and qualitative data were coded, summarized, and analyzed using SPSS 16.0, Statistix 8, and Microsoft Excel 2013.Findings and Values: Seven of ten predictors—including education, family size, farming experience, training, extension service, and credit access—positively influenced CSA adoption, while older age had a negative effect. Farmers’ perceptions about climate change and land ownership were not significant predic-tors; this probably indicates that knowledge on its own does not result in CSA adoption without sufficient financial means and institutional support. These insights provide actionable guidance to enhance CSA adoption and promote resilient, sustainable farming in Bangladesh’s haor ecosys-tems.
