Real-Time Atmospheric Sensing Using the Multiple UAVs
Abstract
This paper demonstrates and discusses the ability of multiple use of UAVs as a system for atmosphere sensing that additionally to the primary mission of drones collects information for meteorological purpose. We presented real measurement of atmospheric parameters extracted from the flight information using the messages of MAVLink protocol. The data is discussed and analysed. The possibility to detect areas with dangerous wind-related phenomena is shown and analysed. The approach to obtain meteorological information discussed in the paper can be used for general meteorological purpose as well as for automatic exchange with operative data for further counting in the control and navigation algorithms as well as for purposes of UAV construction and choosing the optimal sensor placement for different type of UAV.
