Comparative study on aerodynamic characteristics of three types of Unmanned Aerial Vehicle propellers
Abstract
In order to improve the flight range of a certain type of UAV, the propeller design goal of this paper is: while ensuring sufficient pulling force, the propeller should have high efficiency. Based on the high-efficiency propeller design method, the aerodynamic shape design of a UAV propeller is completed. Based on the MRF method, the aerodynamic simulation of three types of propellers at different cruising speeds is carried out, and the performance parameters such as tension, power, and efficiency are obtained. Based on the obtained data, the aerodynamic performance of the three propellers is analyzed. The simulation results show that the static tension of the propeller designed in this paper reaches 111.70 kg when the propeller is in the takeoff state (propeller speed 5400 rpm). In the cruise state (V = 50 m/s, n = 3600 rpm), the propeller generates a pull force of 20 kg, and the efficiency is 80.58%, reaching the expected design goal.
