Early and Multimodal Care for Patients with Lung Cancer: Findings from the ACCEPT Study
Abstract
Simple Summary In modern oncology, treating lung cancer with a combination of medical, supportive, and psychosocial treatments is important. The ACCEPT study examined how a 12-week multimodal early cancer care training program influences quality of life. In this study, directed by patient choice, participation in the ACCEPT program over twelve weeks was associated with an improvement in quality of life. Engagement in multimodal ACCEPT sessions was associated with improved quality of life, reduced depression and symptom burden, and signals of extended survival. The findings of this study indicate that this multimodal training ACCEPT program may be an effective intervention for supporting quality of life and reducing multiple burdens in lung cancer patients.
