INTELLIGENT MAINTENANCE OF AVIATION INFRASTRUCTURE BASED ON A DIGITAL TWIN: FORECASTING THE NEED FOR SPARE PARTS AND SUPPORTING THE SELECTION OF OPERATING HF RADIO BANDS

Sep 2026 · EKTU Journal of Engineering Sciences · 0 citations · 20 references

Abstract

The paper proposes a digital twin architecture designed to support decision-making during the operation and maintenance of aviation infrastructure facilities. As a first practical example, forecasting the need for spare parts for aerodrome meteorological equipment using the example of the FD12 visibility sensor is considered. The developed model makes it possible to use operational data, maintenance information, and failure statistics to assess the likelihood of failure of individual equipment components and make recommendations for inventory planning. In addition, the paper proposes an approach to constructing a digital model of the ionospheric layer over the area of aviation operations. This model is designed to assess the state of the ionosphere and to predict in the short term the optimal operating frequencies of shortwave radio communications. This makes it possible to increase the stability of radio communications in aviation, including when flying in remote areas and during search and rescue operations
