Variability of Productive Traits Under Different Types of Selection

Jul 2026 · Journal of Architectural Engineering and Built Environments · Vol 01, pp. 01-04 · 0 citations

Abstract

The article discusses the influence of various types of selection on the variability of productive traits of Alatau cattle in the meat and dairy direction of productivity based on a comprehensive assessment. To conduct research on this issue, four groups of daughters of cows obtained from linear, crossed, purebred imported and crossbred bulls were selected using different types of selection. It was revealed that cows obtained from linear bulls with homogeneous selection had a negative relationship of milk yield with ancestors with fluctuations from – 0.107 to -0.019, and vice versa, cows obtained from linear bulls with moderately heterogeneous and heterogeneous selection had a positive relationship of milk yield with ancestors with fluctuations from 0.030 to 0.309.

The effectiveness of selection based on the selection index highly productive daughters of bulls with breeding categories, installed using a modified method

The selection of sires based on the quality of their offspring still remains relevant for increasing the milk productivity of cattle, as well as the selection of highly productive cows based on a selection index that takes into account the exterior characteristics of animals. The purpose of the study was to test the me...

Influence of live weight on milk productivity and reproductive traits of cows

Under conditions of intensive dairy cattle breeding, the effective realization of the genetic potential of cow productivity is largely determined by a complex of hereditary and paratypical factors, among which the most important place is occupied by the live weight of animals. Optimization of this indicator makes it po...

84. Impacts of Trait Selection Pressures in Angus Cows on Female Productivity.

Growth traits, that ultimately boost weaning and yearling weights, are highly heritable. However, they also increase mature cow weights and can increase input costs in cow-calf operations. Thus, optimal production in beef cattle operations depends on balancing growth with maternal traits and environmental limitations...

Linear score evaluation of conformation of Holsteinized Black and White cattle and its relationship with milk productivity of cows

Currently, modern breeding methods based on objective assessment of the conformation are becoming one of the key factors in creating a balanced, highly productive herd. Linear score evaluation of conformation, which allows moving from a subjective description to a quantitative analysis of traits directly related to eco...

Dairy productivity of cows of the first lactation of different breeding under conditions of industrial milk production

Relevance . The dairy productivity of first-calf cows depends on many factors, including their origin. In breeding cattle, it is necessary to take into account the linear affiliation of the daughters of bulls of different origins. Breeding enterprises of the Leningrad region specialize in the cultivation of Holstein...
