Ten Tips to Enhance Your Publication Success: Reflections from a Decade as Editor-in-Chief
Abstract
ABSTRACT As I conclude a 10-year term as editor-in-chief of Clinical Gerontologist, I offer 10 practical tips to help authors—especially those early in their research careers—navigate the publication process more successfully. This article addresses three stages: preparing a manuscript and selecting a journal, navigating editorial review, and contributing responsibly to the scientific community. My goal is to pull back the curtain on what truly moves the needle for publication success and to share the things editors wish authors already knew. Along the way, I also reflect on what has helped me in my own growth as an author. I hope these tips serve authors, reviewers, and future editors well.
