URBANISMO DE NEGÓCIOS E SEGREGAÇÃO SOCIOESPACIAL
Abstract
This article analyzes socio-spatial segregation in the continental portion of Florianópolis, considering the advance of business urbanism and the urban conflicts in the 20th century. The city, marked by its insular and metropolitan status, underwent a process of territorial reconfiguration guided by corporate, tourist, and state interests, which reinforced economic and social centralities to the detriment of lower-income populations. The study addresses how urban growth was shaped by strategies that value the urban core of the capital, pushing vulnerable populations to peripheral and less-assisted regions. The analysis highlights the dialectical clash between the field of tension of popular action, which seeks access to urban space and the strengthening of collective rights, and the field of tension of corporate action, which, in alliance with the government, reproduces inequalities through selective expansion and the commodification of territory. The text shows that, in addition to the traditional center-periphery division, segregation is maintained and reinterpreted by urban, economic and political devices, reflecting a political project linked to an urban agenda that responds to market tensions. The study encourages new research developments on the topic in order to support the dissertation project.
