Abstract
The 21st century will present many challenges for equipment management; one strategy will be to focus on sustaining equipment and its functions. Proper equipment management and adherence to maintenance protocols—or the restoration of operational conditions—prevent failures and ensure the equipment’s productive capacity. In the power generation and oil industries, the current trend is to reduce maintenance operating costs by 35% and mitigate the adverse impact of downtime, which increases by 300%.
