Abstract
Presentation by Esther Plomp at the Open Science Festival on 14 October 2026, TU Delft. Abstract: Implementation of open science practices remainsinconsistent, with research evaluation remaining focused on traditional metricsand outputs. Treating openness as optional risks reproducing inequalitiesacross the research ecosystem. Universities and researchers with fewerfinancial, institutional, and infrastructural resources are less able tocontribute to, benefit from, and shape open science practices. Drawing on thepreliminary results of a case study on The Turing Way (a community and book focusingon reproducible, ethical and collaborative data science), this contribution examineshow financial compensation influences participation and community dynamics. Sustainableimplementation of open science practices requires institutional and long-term financialsupport, rather than relying on unequal capacities for voluntary participationor short-term project-based investments.
This publication proposes a definition and a classification of agile software development approaches and analyses ten software development methods that can be characterized as being "agile" against the defined criterion.

The study shows that agile practices improve both informal and formal communication, but indicates that, in larger development situations involving multiple external stakeholders, a mismatch of adequate communication mechanisms can sometimes even hinder the communication.

The results indicate that software engineering work practices are chosen opportunistically, adapted and configured to provide value under the constrains imposed by the startup context.

It is proved that any global minimizer of the trajectory balance objective can define a policy that samples exactly from the target distribution, and empirically demonstrate the benefits of the trajectories balance objective for GFlowNet convergence, diversity of generated samples, and robustness to long action sequenc...
