The Factors That Cause Mental Health Problems among University Students due to Statistical Methods
Abstract
: University students’ mental health is a critical societal concern, with high global prevalence of problems such as anxiety and depression is high worldwide. Existing research often focuses on single factors, lacking an overall integration of multiple influencing factors, which results in gaps in the research. This study explores factors that affect the IT-major university students’ mental health by using public Kaggle data. The research uses three main methods: Principal Component Analysis (PCA), Pearson Correlation Coefficient (PMCC), and multiple linear regression to identify the key factors. Results show that social relationships and study satisfaction alleviate mental health problems, while academic pressure and financial concerns make the problems worse. The study concludes that the four factors mentioned above are key factors and may offer guidance for mental health interventions. These findings provide valuable insights for universities to design effective support systems, enhance counseling services, and promote a healthier learning environment for IT-major students facing psychological challenges.
