Our analysis of data from the 2023 Current Population Survey suggests that women in the United States who reside in states with minimum wages above $10 see a reduction in the gender wage gap via an increase in relative female weekly earnings. These findings indicate that state-level minimum wages set well above the current federal level ($7.25 per hour) may reduce gender inequality.
