Sep 2026 · Bulletin of Science and Practice · 0 citations

Abstract

The article deals with toponyms as part of onomastics in general and modern Kyrgyz linguistics, as well as their meaning, goals, and the study of toponymy. Subsequently, the toponyms found in the Batken region are analyzed according to their linguistic and lexical features, and their grammatical and structural composition. A lexical and grammatical classification of toponyms has been made on the basis of scientific studies; the morphological and syntactic structure of simple and complex toponyms has been studied and grouped. The toponyms of the Batken region reflect the history, social status, customs, beliefs, culture, and linguistic and dialectal features of the local population, as well as the geographical location of the land and a sense of citizenship. Furthermore, the writing of these toponyms does not follow unique orthographic norms; therefore, they should be standardized. The author provides suggestions and directions for a comprehensive study of toponyms in this region. Toponyms found in the epic poem 'Manas' are also common in this region.
