A field experiment was conducted in a randomised complete block design (RCBD) with eight treatments and three replications to assess the response of foxtail millet to the soil incorporation of micronutrients and to determine the micronutrient content in its grain and fodder in order to check whether agronomic bio-fortification through soil application of zinc (Zn) and iron (Fe) fertilisers can offers an immediate and effective route to enhance micronutrient concentrations in foxtail millet. The treatments included combinations of soil-applied Zn and Fe along with the recommended package of practices (RPP), compared with farmers’ practice. The findings indicated that applying ofzinc sulphate (ZnSO₄) at 15 kg ha-1 + iron sulphate (FeSO₄) at 15 kg ha-1 along with RPP recorded significantly higher plant height, number of tillers per hill, total dry matter production per plant, test weight, grain yield, stover yield, net returns and benefit : cost (B : C) ratio, followed by RPP + ZnSO₄ at 10 kg ha-1 + FeSO₄ at 10 kg ha-1. It is therefore evident that soil application of ZnSO₄ and FeSO₄ each at 15 kg ha-1 along with RPP significantly enhances the yield and profitability of foxtail millet, offering greater economic benefits to the farming community.
Micronutrient deficiencies, particularly those of zinc (Zn) and iron (Fe), remain important nutritional concerns and contribute to hidden hunger. Greengram (Vigna radiata L. Wilczek) is a nutrient-rich pulse crop, and improving its Zn and Fe concentrations through agronomic biofor...

The necessity to sustain and enhance crop productivity through efficient resource utilisation is paramount. In Bihar, micronutrient deficiencies are most prevalent, with zinc (Zn) being the most common, followed by boron (B). Therefore, a study was carried out to understand the interaction effects of Zn and B on the gr...

The effect of foliar application of biostimulants and micronutrients on the growth, physiological traits, yield attributes and productivity of winter maize was evaluated in a field experiment at the Crop Research Centre, Institute of Technology and Management (ITM) University, Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh during the rabi se...
Sweet corn (Zea mays var. saccharata) is a high-value horticultural crop whose productivity depends heavily on balanced fertilization. This study evaluated the effectiveness of a straight iron micronutrient fertilizer (Fe-EDTA, 12% Fe) applied together with varying rates of standard NPK on the growth and yield of sweet...

Iron (Fe) is an essential micronutrient for living organisms and plays a key role in numerous physiological processes. Agronomic biofortification with Fe can increase its concentration in edible plant tissues, representing a promising strategy to improve dietary Fe intake and help prevent iron-deficiency anemia, partic...
