AgentEval is presented, a system that carries a contract-bound assessment record through tool execution, state and event capture, report qualification, and case maintenance that separates what the agent did, what the evidence establishes, and whether the conclusion is supported for present use.

Abstract

Task completion alone does not determine whether a stateful agent satisfied its obligations, and a recorded judgment does not guarantee that its supporting evidence remains valid. We present AgentEval, a system that carries a contract-bound assessment record through tool execution, state and event capture, report qualification, and case maintenance. It separates what the agent did, what the evidence establishes, and whether the conclusion is supported for present use. On 32 tool-world administrations, independent checks agree on all 30 complete episodes, distinguishing satisfied, violated, and unresolved obligations; two interrupted administrations are retained. Controlled interventions on 48 evidence views expose 36 binding faults missed by hash-only checks without changing agent behavior. Scenario Studio connects reviewed cases to 12 two-turn reports with 24 independently checked answers. A separate public-benchmark study on 192 held-out executions reveals ten completed return subgoals within broader task failures and isolates the effect of missing evidence. These studies show how an executable assessment record makes scope, evidential support, and report reuse inspectable across an agent evaluation workflow.

NAQD Env: A benchmark for selective withdrawal in language agents

Language agents must revise planned actions when evidence changes, permission is revoked, or a stop instruction arrives. A useful response is selective: suspend affected actions, preserve unaffected work, and resume only after sufficient repair. We introduce NAQD-Env, a synthetic environment that evaluates these decisi...

Verify Claims, Not Scores: Evidence-Based Verification of Modular Agents

When developers change one component of an agent, such as its controller, a learned model or its verifier, they usually judge the change by an aggregate task score. That score cannot tell whether improvement was attainable, which component lost value, or what the agent's own checks certify. We introduce a claim-specifi...

Beyond Corrected Memory: Execution Consistency in Multi-Agent Systems

Shared memory coordinates agents'actions, but correct records do not establish that those actions satisfy task requirements. Memory governance and failure diagnosis regulate or inspect recorded information; they do not by themselves establish whether it is sufficient to judge task duties. We define execution consistenc...

AgentBoundary: Counterfactual Evaluation of Safety in Tool-Using LLM Agents

This work introduces AgentBound, the first four-way counterfactual generation-and-evaluation framework for tool-using agent safety, and shows that effective agentic alignment requires action decisions to track permission-relevant execution evidence, rather than refusal strength alone.

Evidence-Carrying Termination (ECT): an agent may return COMPLETE only when a typed certificate binds every required answer claim to valid, in-scope trace evidence and a deterministic replay reconstructs the claimed value.
