Abstract
Large language models (LLMs) can covertly steer users' beliefs through emotionally manipulative tactics, yet little is known about how interfaces can protect users as such influence unfolds. We investigate whether in-situ disclosures can inoculate users against manipulation during AI conversations. Following a formative study, we developed DISARM, an interface that identifies, explains, and tracks manipulative tactics and hidden incentives. We evaluated our interface in a between-subjects experiment where 488 participants sought advice from an LLM pursuing a harmful hidden objective, with or without disclosures from DISARM. Participants receiving disclosures exhibited 78% less belief shift toward the agent's objective and perceived its advice as more biased and less actionable and the agent as less ethical, reliable, and well-intentioned. An inductive analysis of 1,927 user turns identified 16 response and pushback strategies. We contribute evidence that real-time disclosures can reduce manipulative influence, design recommendations for resistance, and a dataset of categorized responses.
This publication proposes a definition and a classification of agile software development approaches and analyses ten software development methods that can be characterized as being "agile" against the defined criterion.

The study shows that agile practices improve both informal and formal communication, but indicates that, in larger development situations involving multiple external stakeholders, a mismatch of adequate communication mechanisms can sometimes even hinder the communication.

The results indicate that software engineering work practices are chosen opportunistically, adapted and configured to provide value under the constrains imposed by the startup context.

The perception of the impact of agile methods is predominantly positive, and several challenge areas were discovered, but based on this study, agile methods are here to stay.

AI agents can generate code at a scale that’s hard for humans to review line-by-line. PDD Kit helps ensure the code is doing what the developer intended by creating formal specifications and testing against them. It converts developer intent into a Verus specification, proves AI-generated code meets it for every input, and uses tests where proofs aren't practical. Developers review intent, not every line.
