Creativity Practices of Moral Education Excellent Teachers in 21st Century Teaching and Learning: A Conceptual Framework

Abstract

The increasing emphasis on 21st century education has highlighted the need for teachers to adopt creative pedagogical practices that foster students’ critical thinking, innovation, and holistic development. Within the context of Moral Education, creativity plays a crucial role in facilitating meaningful learning experiences that enable students to engage with moral issues in dynamic and reflective ways. This conceptual paper aims to develop a framework for understanding the creativity practices of Moral Education Excellent Teachers in 21st century teaching and learning. The paper employs a literature-based approach by synthesising relevant studies on creativity, pedagogical competencies, 21st century learning, critical pedagogy, and Moral Education. Drawing on critical theory and critical pedagogy as its theoretical foundations, the paper identifies key dimensions that may influence teachers’ creativity practices, including pedagogical knowledge, instructional innovation, reflective practice, contextual responsiveness, and technology integration. Based on this synthesis, a conceptual framework is proposed to explain the relationships among these dimensions and their contribution to creative teaching practices in Moral Education classrooms. The framework contributes to the existing literature by providing a context-specific model that integrates creativity and critical pedagogical perspectives within Moral Education. Practically, it offers guidance for teacher professional development, educational leadership, and curriculum implementation aimed at strengthening creative teaching practices. The paper also provides a foundation for future empirical studies to examine and validate the proposed framework in diverse educational settings.
