TL;DR

A marked discrepancy in the distribution of CKD stages was observed depending on the GFR estimation method: 88.4% of patients were classified as stage C1 using creatinine, compared with only 29.5% using CKiD 2012; with the latter method, 65.9% were classified as C2 and 4.5% as C3a.

Evaluation of Cystatin C versus Creatinine for the Assessment of Glomerular Filtration Rate in Indian Patients with Type 2 Diabetes: An Eight-Week Prospective Study

Background: Traditional creatinine-based estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFRcr) is often inaccurate in populations with specific body compositions, such as the sarcopenic obesity phenotype common in India. This study aimed to quantify the discordance between creatinine and Cystatin C-based eGFR (eGFRcys) and its...

Serum uric acid as an independent associated factor of early-stage renal impairment in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus: a comparative cross-sectional study

To evaluate the cross-sectional association between Serum Uric Acid (SUA) levels and the Estimated Glomerular Filtration Rate (eGFR) and to determine if SUA serves as an independent associated factor of Stage 2 Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) in Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM) patients. A hospital-based comparative cross-...

Performance of estimated glomerular filtration rate equations across ethnic groups in the AIM CKD UK cohort: a multicentre cross-sectional study

Summary Background Accurate assessment of kidney function using estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) is fundamental for chronic kidney disease diagnosis and management, although performance is variable in African and Asian cohorts. We evaluated creatinine-based eGFR performance in an ethnically diverse United Ki...
