Abstract

The University of Florida (UF) and Epoca International jointly transformed the flood of everyday social-media posts into a precise, AI-driven demand-forecasting engine. UF leveraged its HiPerGator supercomputer and interdisciplinary faculty to build large-scale models that sifted billions of unprompted consumer conversations. Epoca supplied proprietary product data, industry expertise, and its rapid-product-development cycle. Together they demonstrated how advanced analytics can shift a company from reactive to proactive market sensing, shortening the product-to-shelf timeline while maintaining inventory efficiency. The partnership exemplifies UF’s broader mission of an AI-University that partners with industry to convert cutting-edge computing into real-world competitive advantage.

The impact of agile practices on communication in software development

The study shows that agile practices improve both informal and formal communication, but indicates that, in larger development situations involving multiple external stakeholders, a mismatch of adequate communication mechanisms can sometimes even hinder the communication.

Solving a 31-year-old grand challenge in mathematics – the KLS conjecture

For decades, a fundamental question about the difficulty of computing in high-dimensional spaces has resisted proof. New research resolves this question, removing a major theoretical obstacle to understanding the efficiency of randomized algorithms used across science and computing. The Kannan–Lovász–Simonovits (KLS) conjecture was proposed in 1995. It asks whether, for a broad class of high-dimensional […] The post Solving a 31-year-old grand challenge in mathematics – the KLS conjecture appear…

Proof-based general-purpose computing with Magnetar

Zero-knowledge proofs can verify computing results without rerunning workloads or exposing sensitive data. Magnetar helps bring them into the mainstream with support for standard programming languages, major speed gains, and quantum-resistant security.
