Abstract

ABSTRACT The topic of genetic inheritance is conceptual and abstract in nature, requiring learning media that can connect scientific concepts with concrete and interactive learning activities. This study aimed to develop Biology UNO Cards (UBI) incorporating a Challenge Box and QR Code for teaching genetic inheritance and to evaluate their validity, practicality, and effectiveness. The study employed a Research and Development (R&D) approach using the ADDIE model, consisting of the Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation stages. The research subjects comprised 24 students in the small-scale trial and 36 students in the large-scale trial at SMAIT Al-Fityan Kubu Raya. Data were collected through expert validation, teacher and student response questionnaires, and pre-test and post-test assessments. Validity was analyzed using Aiken’s V, while learning improvement was examined using the N-Gain score. The validation results yielded an average Aiken’s V of 0.96, categorized as high, with scores of 0.96 for media, 0.94 for content, and 0.98 for language. Student responses reached 86.85%, while teacher responses reached 98.21%, both categorized as highly practical. The effectiveness test produced a percentage of 77.00%, with an N-Gain score of 0.65, categorized as moderate. Thus, UBI incorporating a Challenge Box and QR Code is suitable as an alternative learning medium to support the teaching of genetic inheritance.
