Abstract

The low learning outcomes of students in the tayamum material at SD Negeri 16 Sabang City show that a theoretical and less interactive learning approach is not sufficient to help students understand procedural material. This study aims to describe the ability of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) teachers to design learning media, identify the challenges faced, and analyze the impact of these media on the learning outcomes of grade V students. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation studies, analyzed with interactive models (Moleong, 2014), and tested for validity through diligence observation and triangulation of sources. The results of the study showed that PAI teachers already have basic skills in designing learning media in the form of pictures, props, videos, and presentation slides tailored to the characteristics of Grade V students, supported by school policies, training, and available facilities. However, teachers still face challenges in terms of limited technological facilities, media preparation time, digital readiness, and differences in students' backgrounds and abilities. The use of teacher-designed learning media has proven to have a positive impact on increasing motivation, activeness, concept understanding, and student learning evaluation results in tayamum materials. This study recommends strengthening continuous training and providing technological facilities as strategic steps to optimize the competence of PAI teachers in designing learning media at the elementary school level.
