Abstract

Tomato yellow leaf curl virus (TYLCV), tomato spotted wilt virus (TSWV), and tomato mosaic virus (ToMV) are important constraints on tomato production, and molecular markers provide an efficient approach for identifying promising resistance-associated material. In this study, 24 local tomato accessions collected from Hatay Province, Türkiye, were screened using P6-25 for the Ty-3/Ty-3a region, Sw5-2 for Sw-5, and SNP901 for the Tm-2/Tm-2² region. Marker profiles were evaluated according to published diagnostic fragment sizes. P6-25 identified the approximately 630-bp Ty-3a-associated profile in G1 and G11, corresponding to 8.3% of the collection. The remaining clearly scored accessions predominantly displayed the approximately 320-bp ty-3-associated profile. No Sw-5-associated 574-bp profile was detected with Sw5-2, whereas most accessions displayed products within the published susceptibility-associated range. SNP901 identified the approximately 179-bp Tm-2/Tm-2²-associated profile together with the 509-bp outer control in G5, G15, and G23, representing 12.5% of the collection. Most other accessions displayed the approximately 382-bp tm-2-associated profile. Resistance-associated profiles at more than one screened locus were not observed in the same accession. Overall, five local accessions carried marker profiles associated with major tomato virus-resistance loci. These accessions represent promising material for further resistance validation and may provide useful genetic resources for future tomato breeding programs.
