Mapping Adoption Trends of Green Human Resource Management in Organizational Development: A Systematic Literature Review
Abstract
Driven by global imperatives for corporate environmental governance, Green Human Resource Management (GHRM) has emerged as a strategic engine for sustainable organizational development. This study conducts a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) combined with bibliometric analysis on 200 reputable articles harvested via Publish or Perish across international databases spanning 2017 to 2026. Utilizing VOSviewer, the literature structure was evaluated through network, overlay, and density visualizations. The bibliometric mapping reveals three interconnected thematic clusters and tracks a temporal shift from basic compliance toward green intellectual capital, digital HR, and ESG alignment. Synthesizing these visual hotspots demonstrates that GHRM drives organizational development through three foundational operational indicators: Green Recruitment and Selection, Green Training and Development, and Green Performance Management and Rewards. Theoretically, this research connects micro-level workplace behaviors with macro-level organizational change and ESG compliance. Practically, it equips organizational leaders with an evidence-based framework to embed environmental sustainability directly into core administrative workflows.
