Abstract

In the construction machinery sector, the development and deployment of electric construction machinery are expanding in response to emission reduction requirements and carbon neutrality policies. However, unlike conventional electric vehicles, construction machinery is not operated at fixed locations and is continuously exposed to site movement, outdoor operation, high-power work loads, dust, and vibration environments. Therefore, stable operation of electric construction machinery requires a mobile charging system capable of responding to such field conditions. In this study, test and evaluation procedures for reliability, fire safety, and performance safety were developed based on an analysis of domestic and international standards and technical documents, expert consultation, and a review of existing ESS safety test standards. The reliability evaluation procedure was structured around environmental durability test items such as vibration, shock, temperature, and humidity. For fire safety, cell-level and rack/module-level evaluation procedures were established by referring to the fire safety performance test method under Article 13 of the Fire Safety Performance Code for Electrical Energy Storage Systems (NFPC 607) and the thermal runaway propagation evaluation framework of UL 9540A. The performance safety evaluation procedure included test items such as rated output, output voltage and current tolerance, power distribution, efficiency, communication compatibility, and conducted noise. The results of this study are expected to serve as basic data for establishing test methods, developing association standards, and preparing certification criteria for mobile charging systems for construction machinery.
