RESTORATION OF ARCHITECTURAL MONUMENTS USING MODERN TECHNOLOGIES AND AI TOOLS
Abstract
As the extent of damage to cultural heritage sites increases, the need arises for the prompt inspection, documentation, and scientifically sound restoration of architectural monuments. Traditional approaches do not always allow for the necessary speed and comprehensiveness of analysis, which necessitates the implementation of modern digital technologies, particularly artificial intelligence tools. In Leonid Prybega’s scholarly works, restoration is viewed as a process based on preserving the historical authenticity and physical structure of the monument. Recent studies by foreign authors, including Parente, Sánchez-Aparicio, and Hadjiefendioğlu, demonstrate the potential of using HBIM, 3D scanning, and deep learning methods to analyze the condition of historic buildings and identify defects. The aim of this article is to define the role of modern digital technologies and artificial intelligence tools in the process of restoring architectural monuments, taking into account the requirements for preserving their authenticity. It has been established that the integration of artificial intelligence and information modeling into restoration practice contributes to increasing the accuracy, systematic nature, and efficiency of work with architectural heritage, provided that the principles of scientific rigor, authenticity, and proper documentation are observed.
