A systematic review of integrated production and maintenance scheduling
Abstract
Firms operating in a competitive environment resort to planning practices to manage processes such as production efficiency, meeting customer expectations, and extending equipment lifespan. However, these practices often do not take maintenance activities into account. In an increasingly digital and competitive world, firms must consider maintenance activities when planning production to achieve their goals. Aware of this necessity, companies have focused on simultaneous production and maintenance planning practices in recent years. The aim of this study is to examine and compile production and maintenance planning studies over the last decade, considering the machine environment, the type of maintenance performed, and whether dynamic planning is implemented. Additionally, studies on the use of artificial intelligence methods in simultaneous scheduling of production and maintenance are addressed as a separate section. Since no other study has found that both compiles the existing literature, addresses dynamic planning, and investigates the use of artificial intelligence methods, our study provides a detailed examination of the simultaneous planning of production and maintenance activities, serving as a guide for both researchers and practitioners. lifespan of equipment. Among these studies, scheduling applications play a crucial role.
